What is the .ÐÔ domain?

Domain .ÐÔ (is shortening of «Russian Federation») — is the first Cyrillic domain, which allows to register a domain by using only Cyrillic symbols. For example, ìîñêâà.ðô, ìàðèÿ.ðô and so on.

Who can register a domain in .ÐÔ zone?

Private and corporate entities, residents and non-residents can register domains in this zone. Private bodies can register domain names starting from the moment of us receiving copies of their passports or I.D..

To whom is the .ÐÔ domain meant for?

.ÐÔ zone is accessible and open to everyone.

When will it be possible to register .ÐÔ domains?

The opening of the registration in the zone .ÐÔ was in November, 25, 2009, the registration was started from the period of priority registration for the holders of trade marks and the certain categories. It will last till September, 16, 2010. After the consummation of the period of priority registration the publicly-accessible auction of domain names in the zone .ÐÔ will be started. It will be conducted in the «dutch» way, which means the fix-price registration from the max till the downward adjustment in the course of time. After the auction the open registration is planned, which will be available for all at the common rate.

What is priority registration for the domain?

The right of the priority registration of the domain have the users of the certain categories:

  • the owners of the exclusive right of the trade marks / service marks, which were registered in the national way in the Russian Federation or protected by the international procedure at the territory of the Russian Federation;
  • the owner of the exclusive rights of the trade name;
  • the owner of the exclusive rights to use the name of a place of an origin of the good;
  • nonprofit institutions incorporated according to the legislation of the Russian Federation;
  • the incorporator of mass media.

The priority registration is leaded from November, 25th, till September, 16th, 2010. Each user of the stated categories may submit an application to the Accredited Register REG.RU for the registration in the zone .ÐÔ during this period. You have to grant the needed documents to register the domain name.

Who can proceed with an application for priority domain registration?

The right of the priority registration of the domain have only the users of the certain categories:

  • the owners of the exclusive right of the trade marks / service marks, which were registered in the national way in the Russian Federation or protected by the international procedure at the territory of the Russian Federation;
  • the owner of the exclusive rights of the trade name;
  • the owner of the exclusive rights to use the name of a place of an origin of the good;
  • nonprofit institutions incorporated according to the legislation of the Russian Federation;
  • the incorporator of mass media.

What is the registration fee of one trademark per the procedure of priority registration?

Ñòîèìîñòü óñëóã ïî ðåãèñòðàöèè â ðàìêàõ ïðîöåäóðû ïðèîðèòåòíîé ðåãèñòðàöèè ñîñòàâëÿåò 10 000 ðóáëåé äëÿ êàæäîãî òîâàðíîãî çíàêà.

  • Handling of the application;
  • Manual document checking;
  • Verification of the trademark certificate in the database of Rospatent (The Russian government trademark and patent registrar);
  • Legal counseling regarding the trademark prior (Sunrise period) domain registration;
  • Registration of your domain name (or names) in the .ÐÔ zone for a period of one year;
  • It might also be necessary to legally analyze complicated trademarks (this is included in the cost of registration);
  • Certificate of registration and ownership of the domain name (names)..

When will the .ÐÔ domain be delegated and work after the priority registration procedure per trademark?

If you have registered a domain or domains under the procedure of priority registration, then according to the Rules of registration of the .ÐÔ domain, the domain name will be delegated and available for use immediately, after the technical engaging of the .ÐÔ domain zone in operating. All the domain names, which were registered under the procedure of priority registration, will be immediately put into work (delegated), right after the technical delegation of the .ÐÔ zone by the international organization: ICANN.

How will the situation be resolved, if there are 2 applications for priority registration of the same domain name by several different persons?

The earliest claim for a domain name registration will be satisfied (as a first come / first served basis). And because of this reason we recommend to proceed with an application in advance, to secure your priority.

Our trademark consists of two words. What are the domain names we can register per priority registration and how much it will cost?

For example, if the registered trademark is a word combination: «Çäîðîâûé îôèñ» («HEALTH» + «OFFICE»), then you can proceed with an application for the priority registration of the following domains: çäîðîâûéîôèñ.ðô, çäîðîâûé-îôèñ.ðô.

What is a trademark and brand name?

The meaning of a trademark (brand name) is legally defined in the RF Law «About Trademarks, Service Marks and Appellations of Origin»: The «Trademark» itself is a symbol of product, works or services to individual entities or persons. Trademark’s may be verbal, visual, combined, surroundings, sound, etc.
Registration of a trademark, protects the right of using it by law. A trademark (brand name) may be registered in the name of a legal body and physical person, which are engaged in business activity.
Registration application of a trademark (brand name) is served in the federal executive authority of intellectual property and takes up about half a year.

In the framework of the priority registration process (Sunrise period) the trademarks that are accepted, have to be registered under the national procedures (laws) of the Russian Federation or per International procedures, including Russia, and only these trademarks have the status of active trademark on the date of proceeding with applications for domain names. Registered domain names must:

  • Meet the requirements of the .ÐÔ domain name zone and have to be registered in accordance with the Rules of the .ÐÔ domain name registration zone;
  • Fully reproduce verbal mark of a trademark or coincide with the verbal mark of a trademark after removal of the gaps or replacement of the gaps with hyphens. With all this, the verbal mark of a trademark must include at least one of the protected elements.

Domain names that consist of only unsecured elements will NOT be registered as priority domain names.

How and when the domain auction (Landrush period) will take place after the «Sunrise period» ends?

After the end of the period of the priority registration, which will last approximately till the autumn, 2010, the open auction of the domain names in the zone .ÐÔ of the «dutch» way will be started. It means the fix-price registration from the max till the downward adjustment in the course of time. Any interested person can register the domain name, natural and juridical person, at the site of the Accredited Register REG.RU. The fix-price rate will be published in September-November, 2010, after the publishing the regulations of the auction passage by the Coordinating Center.

How much will registration of .ÐÔ domain at the »Dutch Auction» (Landrush period) cost?

After the completion of the priority registration stage (Sunrise period), an open auction will take place for domain names in the .ÐÔ zone of »Dutch» type that means that the registration will be with the fixed price, starting from maximum and with further decreasing with time. The price of the fixed bets will be published after publication by the Coordination center of the Regulations about auction.

When will the registration process be available to everyone in open mode (first come / first served basis, without trademark and »Dutch Auction» registration)?

The registration of the domain .ÐÔ will be available to the any interested person in Autumn, 2010 during the auction of the domain names in the zone .ÐÔ. After the mentioned period the opened registration will be opened. It will be available for any interested person at the common rate, comparable to the price of the registration of domain .RU.

How to be the first to register the domain name without a trademark?

Without having a trade mark we recommend you to register the domain name that you want by using the domain name auction (Landrush period). See the question «How and when the domain auction will take place?»

How much will it cost to extend a domain name for a new period (domain name renewal)?

The charge for a .ÐÔ domain name renewal for another year will be 600 RUB (as .RU domains) including all taxes and fees.

What will be the «Registration Date» recorded in the .ÐÔ domain registry?

If the registration application was made before the 25th of November 2009, the date of registration will be set as the 25th of November 2009. If the application is made after that specified date, the date will be same as the application date made by the registrar after all the documentation has been checked and approved by our legal department if the registration is for a trademark at the time of prior (Sunrise period) registration. If the registration is at the time of Auction (Landrush period) or open registration, the date will be set as soon as the domain is won at the auction or the same time as it is registered at the time of open registration. «Live-Time» registration (open period) takes from 3 seconds to 15 minutes after payment is confirmed, depending of the technical status and the number of applications in line within the .ÐÔ domain name registry.

Who can become a domain name administrator per priority registration?

According to the «Statute of the priority registration of the domain names in the zone .ÐÔ for the certain users»

« 1.4 The right of the priority registration of the domain names in conformance with this Statute have the following user groups:
1.4.1 the owners of the exclusive right of the trade marks / service marks, which were registered in the national way in the Russian Federation or protected by the international procedure at the territory of the Russian Federation.
